Accountabilities (Duties & Responsibilities)
• Support the planning, design, and delivery of research and evaluation projects in
Northern Ireland based on local priorities and the strategic objectives of the Northern
Ireland services and policy teams, leading on smaller projects and working
collaboratively with members of the Evidence in Practice team on larger ones.
• Identify, analyse, and interpret relevant local and national data and research to
provide actionable insights about the contexts, issues, and opportunities surrounding
palliative care in Northern Ireland.
• Use excellent communication skills to produce meaningful and relevant insight from
evidence in a variety of different verbal, visual, and written formats.
• Carry out a range of research and evaluation fieldwork activities (for example
interviews or surveys) with healthcare professionals and people living with a terminal
illness.
• Support the improvement of Marie Curie services based on findings from research,
evaluation, and evidence reviews, influencing senior leaders to make changes to how
care and support is provided.
• Support the Northern Ireland Policy and Public Affairs team with evidence to support
influencing activities with the government, NHS, local commissioners, and other
stakeholders in the end-of-life care sector.
• Support the commissioning of services in NI by providing evidence to report back to
existing commissioners.
• Support the development of business cases but also with the provision of high-quality
and up to date evidence for use in bids and business cases.
• Work in collaboration with the NI Marie Curie Senior Research Fellow to develop bids
and build academic networks.
• Support the Marie Curie Senior Research Fellow with research activities, including
recruitment and governance.
• Work closely with Marie Curie Community Engagement roles, to both understand
local need and gather the lived experience of people affected by death, dying, and
bereavement.
• Manage the development of Marie Curie's repository of evidence about issues
affecting palliative care in NI.
• Maintain a library of quotes for use with internal and external communications.
• Attend regular meetings in Northern Ireland to provide insight from evidence
collected.
